Once you have chosen the wedding dress you will still have to choose the wedding accessories that you need to make everything complete. The most important thing to decide on after picking out your dress is whether you want to wear a veil. This is not necessary if you are not going with a traditional wedding and some women simply prefer not to wear one. The veil not need be bought at the same time as the dress. Most veils will go with most dresses. If you want to wear one pick the one that is exactly what you really want. One question will be how long you want it to be. Is it to lay down the middle of your back or do you want one to match the length of your dress’s train. You will need to decide if you want your face covered when you walk down the aisle or if you want the veil more as a head decoration. If you decide not to wear one then you need to choose what you want to put in your hair. You can wear a tiara, flowers or is you prefer nothing at all.
One of the wedding accessories that we often forget about is the bride’s shoes. So often these are lost under the flowing material of her beautiful gown that the shoes are not thought of as the very important accessory that they are. Shoes need to serve two purposes. They must be attractive, but more importantly they must be comfortable. The bride will spend the wedding ceremony and the reception in them. She will circulate amongst her guests, dance with her new husband, her father and new father-in-law as well as a few close friends and family. The last thing the bride wants is sore feet. This means that these must be chosen carefully. One trick is to wear heels for the wedding ceremony to accent the dress but wear lower heals, or flats, during the reception. This may be the answer for the bride about to spend hours on her feet.
Jewelry is included amongst the wedding accessories that must be planned for. It is important to make sure that the jewelry adds to the ensemble not overpowers it. If the dress is fancy, then tone down the jewelry. If the dress I simple then something a little special in jewelry might be what it needs to give it a little more style. Some brides like to wear something of their mothers or grandmothers that they wore on their wedding day. This is a sweetly sentimental tradition.
As is the desire to keep with the tradition of carrying something old, something new, something borrowed and something blue. These wedding accessories can be combined or carried as single items. Most brides who decide to do this do it because they like the tradition and they feel that it will bring them good luck. Many brides choose to carry something that belonged to their mother or grandmother. This may be something as small as a handkerchief; a garter or sometimes it is a small bible or piece of jewelry. The last item that needs to be considered is the garter. This is another older tradition and women still wear these for the touch of elegance as well as the feeling of being desirable when wearing something like a lace garter. Some women wear two; one to throw and one to keep. Once the bride has found all the wedding accessories she needs it will be time for her to begin to collect everything her groom needs.
